EYE EXAMINATIONS

The usual MEDICAL EYE EXAMINATION will commonly include the following:
• An examination of the external ocular structure of the eyelids, eyelashes, brows and tear ducts.
• An evaluation of your peripheral field of vision (side vision).
• An evaluation of the movement of your eyes and test for binocular function.
• A painless (puffless) test for glaucoma.
• A microscopic evaluation of the external segments of your eyes including the cornea, iris, lens and other structures.
• An evaluation of your intraocular structures including your retina, optic nerves, macular vessels and other structures.
• A review of your general health conditions which possibly may have bearing on your eyes.
• Medical recommendations and treatment will be suggested following this type of examination.


The VISION EXAMINATION includes the following:
• An examination of the external ocular structure of the eyelids, eyelashes, brows and tear ducts.
• This exam will also include screening tests for glaucoma field and motility disorders as well as a screening evaluation of the cornea, iris, lens, retina, optic nerves and others.
• A prescription for glasses will be given along with a specific glasses suggestion. Following this exam, suggestions for follow up of any medical conditions identified during this exam will also be made.

OTHER TYPES OF EYE EXAMINATIONS

Contact Lens Evaluation:
Our doctors utilize the latest methods and provide the newest types of contact lenses in our practice. Trial offers are available for those of you who are interested but unsure of your ability to wear lenses. Bifocal and astigmatism lenses are available for most prescriptions.

Pediatric Eye Care:
Dr Kursar recommends medical examinations on all infants where there is any question about the child's eyes, inherited problems such as deviation of the eyes or other symptoms. Children by the age of three should have received a medical evaluation with dilation.

Dilated Examination:
Often it will be necessary to dilate your eyes to evaluate your condition for treatment. A driver will be needed to help you get home safely.

Visual Field Testing:
Visual field testing to diagnose Glaucoma and other neurological conditions is available at our offices.

Fundes and External Photography:
Recording your condition with Photographs is utilized at our offices.

Fluorescein Angiography:
Diabetes and other retinal conditions are best diagnosed and
treated with the aid of retinal angiography. Dr. Kursar will utilize these modalities when your condition warrants.

Corneal Topography:
Topopraphic maps of your cornea is an essential in LASIK and other corneal conditions. These procedures will be included in your care at Kursar EyeCare, Inc.

Eye History:
It is important that we have a detailed history of your eyes and general health as well as any medication you may be taking. Medical allergies are also very important. Please have this information available for your eye examination.

Vision:
Your old glasses and contact lens information as well as any intraocular lens information will be very helpful for your evaluation and will save your time in the office.

Office Surgery:
Many surgical procedures can and will be performed in the office. If your condition may possibly include an office surgery, you may need a driver following the procedure.

Regular Examination:
Should be performed at least every two years prior to 60 years of age. Contact lens and glasses wearers need annual examinations. People with medical conditions will need care more frequently depending upon their specific condition (such as diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration).
